Roadmap update—November 2026

20 years in, and just getting started

Hello again,

When I first wrote to you in April, the new team had been running Eventbrite for just a few weeks. I told you our goal was to make it the best events platform for creators, and that we'd move fast to get there.

Today, I'm back to share what we've built since April and, most importantly, what's coming next. Spoiler: automated waitlists and SMS campaigns are on the way.

Six months on, I'm proud of where we are. The team has shipped more than 70 product improvements (10+ per month), many of which came directly from your requests. And behind the scenes, we've also been rebuilding the very technology Eventbrite runs on, so that after 20 years of learning from organizers like you, we can act on that feedback much faster.

Here are a few highlights from the past months:

Creator tools

Let's start with one we're especially excited about: ticket prices can now change automatically. You set the rules once, by date or after a set number of tickets sell, and we switch the price for you. You can also move an entire order to a new date in a single action and track sales across all your events in a single view. Your emails to attendees now carry your brand, and you can schedule thank-yous for minutes after your event ends.

Ticketing

When you change your event's date, time, or location, attendees automatically receive an email. During busy on-sales, they see their exact place in line, and you can also schedule email notifications for you to be sent as soon as your tickets sell out.

Reach and discovery

Your events now show up when people search for a city in ChatGPT. In most countries, ticket buyers now follow you automatically, so they hear about your next event. And you can see which ads drive your sales, including purchases made in the app.

Reliability

Waiting rooms are built to handle thousands of fans arriving at once, so your biggest on-sales stay smooth. At the door, check-in barcodes download 3x faster, and even your largest reports load with ease.

Checkout

Add-ons now have their own step after tickets, so buyers actually see them. We've also added a new security check that helps to stop bots and automated buyers from grabbing your tickets to resell them.

But that's only a selection. You'll find every feature we shipped since April on our product updates page.

What's coming next

Picture your next event. The people who came last time are the first to hear about it, and it's already in front of the new people most likely to love it, wherever they're looking for something to do. If it sells out, every spot that opens up is filled again before you've even noticed. That's the experience we're working toward, using what we've learned from millions of events and the organizers behind them. Here are some of the tools on the way:

  • SMS campaigns: text your attendees reminders and promotions straight from Eventbrite (starting in the US with a paid plan). You can get your SMS audience ready now: add “Cell phone for SMS marketing” to your Order Form, to start building your list.
  • Automated waitlist: when tickets become available again, they are automatically offered to the next person on your waitlist, so a sold-out event stays sold-out.
  • Smarter recommendations: our recommendation algorithms are about to get much more sophisticated. We are expanding discovery into more channels too, including more conversational AI platforms.
  • Anti-scalping tools: new ways to keep your tickets out of resellers’ hands.
  • More flexible email campaigns: new designs to choose from, as well as your own templates.
  • Linked tickets and add-ons: decide that some tickets or extras can only be bought together with another ticket, like skate rental with an ice-skating ticket.
  • Reserved seating, rebuilt: an easier way to build your seating map, and a smoother way for attendees to pick seats.
  • A faster, easier back office: simpler navigation and a dashboard built around what you do most.

And a lot more.

Bigger changes are underway

Eventbrite supports more than 4 million events every year. It's a very large and very complex platform. So alongside building new features, we're also simplifying and rebuilding the technology behind it.

A stronger foundation means you'll get improvements faster: a smoother checkout, better tools to help people discover your events, improved payouts and check-in, and a more reliable platform overall.

Changes this big won't always be invisible: in fact, the platform has experienced some disruptions in recent months that you may have noticed. But this work is fundamental in making Eventbrite stronger, more capable, and more reliable for whatever you're planning next.

Strong foundations also let you aim higher. From a 10-person workshop to a sold-out stadium, Eventbrite is built for every kind of event, and ready to grow with you.

Our direction stays the same: the most powerful events platform for creators. We've been here for 20 years, and we're just getting started.
