About this event

Community • Nationality

Women Building Peace, in partnership with We Choose Welcome, invites you to join us f Quilts and Collective Action, a cross-partisan gathering held in Nashville, Tennessee. This overnight event offers a unique form of creative advocacy and community.

As part of the Peace by Piece: Quilting for the Constitution campaign, we will be asking our representatives to uphold the constitutional principles of due process, human dignity, the rule of law, and freedom of speech.

Immigrant families are an essential part of Tennessee’s communities, yet too often they face dehumanizing policies and barriers to justice. By quilting, writing postcards, and showing up together, we send a message to our elected leaders: we stand with our immigrant neighbors, and we expect the Constitution to protect every person who calls this country home.

What to Expect

  • Creative Resistance — Stitch your name into advocacy quilts and write postcards urging Tennessee’s senators, representatives, and governor to uphold constitutional freedoms and human dignity.
  • Community & Welcome — Share food, music, and connection across cultures, building solidarity rooted in belonging and mutual care.
  • A Coalition for Justice — Stand alongside immigrant leaders and allies to imagine a more just Tennessee where every voice is valued.

This is more than an event—it’s a movement of welcome, justice, and peace. Whether you’ve walked with us for years or are just stepping in, your presence matters.

Together, we will weave a Tennessee where immigrant families are embraced, justice is upheld, and peace takes root.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be able to quilt or sew to come to the event?

No! We are partnering with quilting guilds across the state to prepare finished quilts for us ahead of time. Know someone who might like to get involved? Share this link with them! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0845AEAF22A0F8C16-58102046-quilting#/

Do I have to stay all night long?

Not at all, sleep queen. You are welcome to leave at any point during the night, but no one will be allowed to enter the building between 10pm and 6am for security reasons.

Should I bring my own food?

You are welcome to bring any snacks you like, but we will have free food and drinks available throughout the night from immigrant-owned restaurants around Nashville.

Can I attend if I am not a woman from Tennessee?

While we welcome all kinds of supporters to the action of peaceful resistance, we desire to protect the safety and integrity of this event by limiting it to women from Tennessee.
