[Start2Up] series comeback!

On the 3rd wave of series, focusing on law things you need to know! Contractual issues, including but not limited to insights on

- Different ways of building a team (employee, contractor, agent) and associated obligations of hiring under Hong Kong law
- Motivate the team and share profit by employee stock ownership options
- Protect data privacy of customers under Hong Kong law and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- Business Formation & Founder Arrangements
- Intellectual properties and practical legal affairs handling for entrepreneur

Professionals in the field are invited to share their experience and insights in the field of law and legal issues along Information Technology infused which targeting to assist local startup.

Networking along with essential checklists of an entrepreneurs including workshops and seminars in relaxed atmosphere, our mission does not limit to relaxed networking, yet to support local entrepreneurs and especially startups.

About the speaker

Carmen Che, Of Counsel, L&Y Law Office

Carmen Che is an Of Counsel at L & Y Law Office, and has over ten years of experience in corporate and commercial practice with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, formation of joint venture, corporate restructuring, corporate governance and general company law matters.

Carmen regularly advises and represents a broad spectrum of clients on various transactions relating to investments in and outside of Hong Kong including those in the healthcare, education, non-profit organization and the luxury brand sector.

Carmen previously worked in an international law firm and was also an in-house lawyer in a Hong Kong listed company advising on acquisitions of international infrastructure assets.

Janice Chew, Principal, JC Legal

Janice Chew is Principal of JC Legal. As a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong and Malaysia, she draws upon her network of professional expertise in Southeast Asia to offer bespoke and pragmatic legal solutions for clients across business scales. Janice has advised Hong Kong listed companies and licensed corporations on cross-border mergers and acquisitions as well as regulatory compliance. She also stewards the growth of cutting-edge technology startups in virtual assets, stock information social media, mobile financing and digital marketing.

Eric Yung, CEO, Playnote

Eric is a serial entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of Playnote, which focuses in research and development of artificial intelligence for professional music education software. Before founding Playnote, Eric was one of the co-founders, former executive director and CTO of Perception Digital, which was listed in HKEX in 2009.

Eric also worked as independent consultant to provide management consulting service to various organizations and companies, including startups. The consulting services includes providing suggested strategies in legal affairs handling, business direction, turn-key solution and methodology, etc.

Eric has taught as lecturer, consultant and speaker in entrepreneurship lectures for various universities and organizations, including CUHK EMBA program, HKUST MBA program, Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Science Park, etc.

Eric received his Bachelor of Laws from University of London. He also received his Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Philosophy degrees, both in Electronic Engineering, from HKUST.
