Sai Kung Markets Ltd., is a new company that spotted a gap in the Farmer/Craft Market array in Hong Kong. The first market was held on March 2, 2014 and was a huge success. What was initially meant to be a soft opening with 20 vendors quickly doubled to 40 and the second market on April 6th sold all 55 tables three weeks before the event. There is now a waiting list employed such is the demand.

All vendors are vetted for suitability for Sai Kung Sunday Market (SKSM) with quite a few being turned away after applying to resell substandard offerings or because of sub-standard goods or services. SKSM employs a steering committee method of screening applicants. The committee is made up of the organiser, well regarded vendors and others from the community.

SKSM is in partnership with Hong Kong Academy School and the over-arching philosophy behind the market is to foster a sense of community. Charities are well represented and the school is represented at the market even though it has no hand in running it.

It's a fun day out. Come and try it!
