Voices Chamber Choir
Founded in 1996 by its current artistic director Ron Ka Ming Cheung, the choir has become one of the finest community chamber choirs in Toronto, with numerous awards and accolades given to the choir. Voices’ programs include a diverse repertoire from the renaissance to the 20th century, featuring both well-known and less familiar works by composers of the past. The choir also premieres original works by Canadian composers.
Voices promotes a spirits of community involvement. This includes performance opportunities for aspiring musicians as guest artists, and collaborations with other choral groups in the community. In the past 25 years, Voices collaborated with Vocal Horizon Chamber Choir and the Toronto Philharmonia, the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. Toronto Concert Orchestra,, Brass Conspiracy and Kindred Spirits Orchestra. Voices has been invited to perform at the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District., and performed with the Medical Musical Group from Washington DC, a US Congressional Medal recipient in a Canadian-American Friendship concert for Remembrance Day. Voices was also an invited guest with the Alata Harmonia Chorus of Canada in a Fund-raising concert for the CNIB. In February 2023, the choir made their solo debut at Roy Thomson Hall, as part of the Annual Free Noon Hour Choir and Organ series.
