The Shannon Index

The Shannon Index is an alternative rock band from Montreal, blending elements of nu-metal, pop, alt-rock and prog into a sound that's both heavy and melodic. Formed in 2001, the band is known for their eccentric arrangements and raw energy, having made their mark with the release of a self-titled EP in 2002.

Named after a metric of biodiversity, the band embraces creative experimentation and genre fusion. Back in 2025 after a long hiatus, The Shannon Index returns with new music, a clear vision, and a drive to break new ground.
