Sean McCarthy Memorial Weekend - Finuge

Sean McCarthy Memorial Weekend - Finuge

The Sean McCarthy Weekend Festival, held annually in Finuge, Co. Kerry, celebrates the life and legacy of legendary Irish songwriter, broadcaster, and journalist Sean McCarthy (1923–1990). A key figure in the Irish Folk Revival, Sean’s songs have been performed by artists from Christy Moore and The Wolfe Tones, Sean Keane, Pete St John to The High Kings and Chasing Abbey and the upcoming Meadhbh Walsh who preformed in concert in 2025.

Since 1994, our dedicated local committee has hosted this unique festival, featuring original ballad competitions, live performances, and storytelling events. With the support of IMRO and international sponsors, the festival continues to promote Ireland’s folk traditions and inspire new generations of songwriters and storytellers.
