Resilience Through Nature

Resilience Through Nature is a training programme for PhD researchers at the University of Bristol. The project creates space for PhD students to explore personal and collective questions and anxieties about climate change and ecological collapse. Together, researchers develop a sense of purpose and agency to navigate the uncertainty of the environmental crisis, feeling more connected to nature and each other.

The Resilience Through Nature project was funded by the Enhancing Research Culture programme and was delivered by a collaborative team of:

Viv Kuh, Lecturer in Responsible Innovation

Mireia Bes & Ben Meller of the Public Engagement team https://www.bristol.ac.uk/public-enga...

Roy Kareem, coach and facilitator at Bright Green Future https://www.bright-green-future.org.uk

Artist Amy Hutchings https://www.amyhutchings.co.uk

Filmmaker Adam Laity https://www.adamlaity.co.uk

The project ran again in 2023-24 in collaboration with the Cabot Institute for the Environment. To date, 2025 onwards, seasonal events are being organised by RTN alumni with funding from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the UK's leading research funding and training agency addressing economic and social concerns, through the South West Doctoral Training Partnership.
