Christian Action Centre for Refugees

Christian Action has been operating in Hong Kong since 1985, originally commissioned to serve the Vietnamese refugee community sequestered here. Christian Action’s mission is to serve those who are poor, disadvantaged, marginalised, displaced or abandoned, aiming to give them hope, dignity and self-reliance. Our service recipients include underprivileged children and youth, the unemployed, low-income families, ethnic minorities, refugees, migrant domestic workers, new arrivals from Mainland, as well as orphans and abandoned children in Qinghai, China. Presently, Christian Action operates 22 service points in Hong Kong and China, providing humanitarian aid, social services, and vocational training.

The Centre for Refugees (CFR) is part of the humanitarian services division of Christian Action. Since 2003, our centre became the first, and continues to be, the only drop-in community centre for asylum seekers and refugees in Hong Kong. We create an inclusive community for refugees by fulfilling their humanitarian needs, providing opportunities for their future and empowering them to live with hope and dignity. Our clients represent a diverse cross-section of Hong Kong, hailing from dozens of countries and multiple religions, including persecuted religious minorities.

The services we provide:

  • Humanitarian Casework
  • Health and Well-being
  • Community Resilience
  • Education and Empowerment
  • Resettlement
  • Outreach and public engagement
