Around the Round Table

Around the Round Table is an online publishing platform and writing community that is revaluing the power of conversation so that curious minds can be more curious.

We aim to give writers a platform to launch their careers. As four English and creative writing graduates, we understand how difficult it is to break into the creative industries without money or connections.

Secondly, as people involved in student media, we have been frustrated with the sensationalism and bias of journalism. Our online platform will have two views - one for readers and one for writers. Readers will be encouraged to browse the site and see writers in conversation with each other in different mediums. For example, we might put a poem, an article, a short story and an interview together that all deal with the Russia-Ukraine war. So the site will promote the reading of multiple viewpoints.

And third, to create a supportive community where writers can help each other and readers can support the work they like most through a more meritocratic tip-jar style system.

We organise writing workshops, panel discussions, open mic nights and other idea and writing oriented events to help us achieve these aims. So pull up a chair and join us around the round table.
