ANCED / Cognitect Maria A. El Helou

Maria A. El Helou, architect, introduced the field of Neuroarchitecture to the MENA in 2011.

She helps people have houses and communities have cities and public and private places matching their identity and brain and bodily senses activity.

Regaining their original conscious and conscious harmony through her design and guidelines, people feel unconsciously better in the space they use.

Her research explores how urban and architectural design can support mental health and wellbeing, with particular focus on post-traumatic environments.

She is founder and architect at the Neurohabitat, with over 15 years of experience in architectural design, research, analysis, project planning, and shelter development, working with various clients and stakeholders in the MENA region and Europe.

She also founded the Academy of Neuroscience for Cities, Environments, and Design (ANCED).

She is an international keynote speaker, university lecturer, research award winner, and reviewer to many scientific journals, and a senior advisor to several NGOs and organizations, among them the WELL.
