David Schneider
David Schneider has called Hong Kong home for the past 25 years, raising his family while deepening his lifelong devotion to martial arts and mindful movement. His journey began in 1970 at age 15 in Yonkers, New York, where he first trained in Kempo Karate. By 1974, he was studying Uechi-Ryu Karate under Bob Boyd in Burlington, Vermont, earning a black belt before transitioning to Tai Chi on Boyd’s recommendation.
In Boston’s Chinatown, David trained at Chi Gin Soon school, laying the foundation for a practice rooted in precision, flow, and internal power. He returned to study with Bob Boyd from 1984 to 2000, until a pivotal move to Hong Kong introduced him to the students of Master Ip Tai Tak. Captivated by the depth of tradition in Asia, he chose to stay and immerse himself fully in the culture.
In 2003, David founded Wavingclouds Production Ltd., a Hong Kong-based company that brought together 35 Beijing martial artists, a local wire-fu team, and respected Tai Chi Hong Kong Sifus to deliver education seminars, multimedia performances, and cultural events.
Today, David teaches private and group Tai Chi and Qigong classes in Hong Kong, welcoming dedicated students of all levels. He also designs school programs that introduce the benefits of mindful movement, balance, and breath.
