Located on Portland Street in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong, Tung Nam Lou Art Hotel has witnessed over 75 years of the city's changes. Its story began in 1950 with the "Tung Nam Tea House," which later evolved into the beloved local "Tung Nam Lou Seafood Restaurant." In 1994, the second generation redeveloped the original building into a 23-story commercial complex. Then in 2019, the third generation ushered in a new chapter, transforming it into an art and culture-centric boutique hotel, fulfilling the family's vision of connecting the community and promoting local art.

The hotel itself is a work of art, with thoughtful details found throughout. The double-fish relief above the main entrance, playing on the homophone for "meet," symbolizes human connection. The retro "South Room" draws inspiration from the ancestral home, displaying cherished family calligraphy and paintings. Here, art is not mere decoration but an experience woven into daily life. The hotel regularly hosts exhibitions, workshops, and events open to both guests and the public, serving as an open platform for sharing aesthetic appreciation.

Today, Tung Nam Lou has transcended its traditional function as a hotel, emerging as a vibrant cultural landmark in Yau Ma Tei. It actively collaborates with local artists, providing exhibition space, and is affectionately called the "new Banyan Tree Head" by neighbors—a public living room that fosters community and sparks creativity. This building not only carries historical memory but also continues to write new stories of encounters between people and the city through the language of contemporary art.
