OBJECTIVE
To learn in detail and practice the main standing yoga poses (open hip category) that are commonly included in Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga classes. The workshop will be recorded and you get to keep a copy so you can rewatch and keep practicing at your convenience.
Why Yoga For Men?
Because of the gender imbalance in most yoga studios, many men feel intimidated to try yoga in group settings. Reduced flexibility affects many/most adult men compared to women which makes it even more daunting for men to try yoga.
Workshop Description
After warming up with Sun Salutations A & B, we will then workshop common Standing Yoga Poses from the Open Hip category: Extended Side Angle pose, Triangle Pose, Half Moon Pose, Peaceful Warrior, Goddess Pose, Side Lunge, Squat Pose and Tree Pose. You will learn in detail the benefits of each pose - proper alignment, physical & energetic benefits, risks, variations and modifications so you can make the most out of each pose. We will finish with sweet Yoga Nidra to release tension in Body and Mind.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
This course is taught by senior yoga teacher and wellness coach David Ito in partnership with Brutal Buddha. David specializes in Yoga For Beginners, Yoga for Injury Recovery, Yoga for Seniors in the vinyasa yoga lineage. As a massage therapist and former gymnastics coach, David has a special interest in teaching safe and functional yoga by having his students deepen their understanding of human anatomy to improve their yoga pose alignment and posture. David is also a meditation teacher and spiritual healer.
