About this event

A stream runs through Chuen Lung, it’s the life force behind the plentiful watercress field that is almost synonymous with the village itself. When investigated closely, you will also see that such landscape make up provides support to a diverse array of fauna. At Koon Man Space, we have been working together with OWLHK to conduct a baseline ecological survey on freshwater and herpetofauna at Chuen Lung. In April, OWLHK will be leading a 4-days intensive docent training workshop, introducing freshwater ecosystems in Chuen Lung and Hong Kong at large, bringing to light the significance of freshwater biodiversity.

On Day 1 and 2 of the 4-day workshop, freshwater ecology experts will equip participants with the knowledge of basic ecology and environmental education, freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity, and the techniques for ecotourism in stream environments. While for Day 3 and 4, it is the time for the participants to practice what they have learned and to evaluate their performance through a field exam. The exam will assess their knowledge of freshwater ecosystems, and touring skills obtained in the workshop.

After the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be invited to lead public guided tours in Chuen Lung, for all to continue honing their docent skills, and with the wish to create and contribute to a database of Chuen Lung freshwater species collectively.
