Andrew Laurie, BGB Building Great Businesses
In 2001, Andrew fell off a 100-foot cliff while skiing in Canada, stopped breathing and broke much of his body from the waist up. He was fortunate to make a full recovery and has since built an exceptional record of achievement in business as well as a unique breadth of non-business experience. He’s now on a mission to help thousands of Sydney business owners build great businesses so that they too can lead extraordinary lives.
Andrew built a billion-dollar business in the UK. He then grew one of the most successful business coaching companies in Australia, before selling it in 2017. He taught management and strategy at Sydney Business School and was, in 2018, 2020 and 2021, recognized as the Global Executive Coach of the Year. He’s published four books.
Whilst the majority of Andrew’s time is now focussed on his family, he still actively pursues his passion for sport and adventure. Much of his time is spent with family and friends traveling, rock climbing, skiing, sailing and playing cricket. He was a Professional Mountain Guide, has run Ultra-Marathons around the World, has played cricket to a professional level and once rode his bike, alone, across the Nullarbor Plain.
Andrew, for the last 20 years, has been active in helping young Australians achieve more in life and have a more fulfilling life. He has worked with a wide range of charities (including Wesley Mission, the Salvation Army, the Oaktree Foundation, the Top Blokes Foundation and White Lion) and sits on the Board of Blue Mountains Grammar School. In 2015-16, he was President of the Rotary Club of Sydney. During that year, the Club managed some 50 different service projects across all streams of Rotary service.
