About this Event

Mettā Nairobi brings you the 16th installment of the “Women-In” series where we will be hosting a star-studded panel consisting of women at the top of their game in the tech industry.

The main purpose of the series is to celebrate women in different sectors, their achievements, and their roles. Looking at the great strides that have been made over the years by women throughout the world, we want this platform to empower the next generation.

The panelists on the day will include:

Eva Warigia - Eva Warigia is Executive Director at East Africa Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EAVCA), a trade organization for private equity and venture capital funds. In her role, Eva promotes and champions private capital interests in the East Africa region, by building PE and VC awareness among businesses, while engaging with regulatory authorities to ensure policy design that incentivizes private investment in East Africa.

Eva describes herself as a storyteller, a curious mind with passion for the African continent. Her passion is in adopting a hands on approach for tackling business and social problems, and to come up with long lasting solutions.

Abigail Komu - Abigail is a Multifaceted Digital Finance & Technology Champion with 12+ years of experience deploying innovative financial solutions to the unserved and underserved populations in emerging markets, focusing on women, youth and SMEs.  

As a consultant, she helps financial services providers and ecosystem partners to research, develop and adopt new technologies, new ideas and new ways of thinking to bridge the digital and financial divide, while creating social impact and remaining commercially sustainable. She also Tutors Harvard University's Fintech Course.

Rita Njeri - She describes herself as a "Fintech chic", working at Cellulant as part of the senior executives, tasked with merchant acquisition, Strategic partnerships and Value growth for Global Companies looking to digitally Collect payments across Africa.

Prior to this, she worked in the Telecommunications industry with 4th largest Telco (Airtel) for over a decade in Kenya & India where she led a variety of initiatives including: Driving sales for the Corporate & SME segment, Streamlining of processes, Customer Retention, Cost optimization, Market sizing & debt portfolio management. In addition to the professional work, she mentors young ladies between the age of 19-24yrs on career decisions.

Juliet Mburu - Juliet is a digital payments and digital financial services specialist with over 15 years of experience managing various programmes. Her experience spans the private and public sectors in Kenyan and international markets, with extensive experience in the financial sector.

Some of her key contributions include the establishment of the Kenya interbank instant payments switch (PesaLink) & the Payments Association of Kenya. Most recently, Juliet played a lead role in supporting the Central Bank of Kenya to develop a National Payments Strategy.
