Event description
Play in our WISE Women's 5-A-Side Football Night For Good. Celebrate women's sports and leadership and support sports for development.

About this Event

Sport has the power to change the world for good and is an important enabler for sustainable development. Sport plays a crucial role in catalyzing the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including in achieving gender equality, and in the empowerment of women and young people, individuals and communities among others.

WISE Women’s 5-A-Side Football Night For Good

Brings together women to play in a night of friendly football matches while showing support for the SDGs and women and girls leadership.

By playing football together, we celebrate the culture of women in sports and the lifelong benefits through sports interaction that have empowered women’s lives, the people they care for and the global community.

Joining us at this event helps us (WISE HK) raise funds to launch our WISE Sports Leadership Program, an immersive learning and training initiative for high school female students in local schools to nurture their leadership skills and enable them to make positive social impact on their community through sports.

Help us champion sports for women and girls, and be a part of this growing movement using sports to catalyze social change, and demonstrate that your companies care about purpose, sustainable development and women and girls’ leadership.

It doesn’t matter if you have never set foot on a pitch or you were born with football DNA in your genealogy — we want YOU to join us. We welcome all levels of play; after all, this event is about fun and celebrating women playing sports.

This event invites women to play, not because we want to be exclusive, but because we recognise that in many sports-related corporate events in Hong Kong, majority of the time there are more men joining then women joining. We want to change the dynamics of that a little, to have an environment where it’s women-focused, and where we can create an environment to celebrate the participation of women in sports.

Game night | Teams warm up in a 45-minute coaching session focusing on basic football skills, followed by 5v5 football tournament lasting 5-minutes per match in a round-robin and knock-off stage format. We wrap up the games over light snacks and drinks with opportunities to network.

WISE HK — Women in Sports Empowered Hong Kong — champions sports for women and girls in Hong Kong. We aim to educate and promote why sports matter; and we use sports as a tool for women’s and girls’ empowerment.

In 2018, United Nations recognized sport as a powerful enabler to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. It has reinvigorated the importance of goals concerning empowerment of women and young people, quality of health; education and social inclusions; reduction in inequalities; and peace, tolerance and respect. Bringing relevance of sports to these areas complement and strengthen voice of our work in WISE HK.

We believe sport is universal and its impact is real. Its growing popularity among young people in Hong Kong and worldwide have far-reaching social and economic impact now and in future generations. Any contributions and investments for women and girls in sports is a step-forward to advancing gender and sports equity. It further enhances optics for them to shine as leading role models in the community, inspiring more women, girls and allies united by common passion for sports to power impact with scale for a sustainable world.
