About this event

Family & Education • Education

The Netflix series Adolescence, which follows a teenage boy accused of murdering a girl, has sparked intense debate after topping the charts in 74 economies, including Hong Kong. Its unsettling portrayal of bullying, social media toxicity and distorted masculinity has raised concerns among parents and educators—highlighting the harsh realities many young people face today.

Join TWF as we delve into the role of media and online spaces in shaping today’s youth, from the influence of the manosphere to the broader effects of digital spaces on adolescent development and relationships. How do online interactions and influences impact boys’ perceptions of girls and women — and vice versa? As parents, educators and allies, how do we raise children with gender equal mindsets? The event will create an open space for sharing experiences, challenges, and insights.

Moderated by Carolyn Hammond, Regional Head of Leadership & Talent (APAC), Bloomberg, our speaker line-up includes:

  • Bhavna Bharvani, Clinical Counselor, Central Minds
  • Donna Chu, Associate Professor - School of Journalism and Communication, Chinese University of Hong Kong
  • Philip Yim, university student and TWF Young Ally
