About this event

WeWork celebrates its fifth anniversary this month in Hong Kong. Dedicated to supporting its members and partners as they embrace the new hybrid world of work, WeWork has continued to deepen its local commitment with innovative hybrid workspace solutions that offer safe, flexible and efficient workspaces and services.

“Over the past five years, WeWork has redefined the way companies in Hong Kong work, with more future-ready, flexible workspace solutions that help them navigate the evolving market landscape and capture business potential,” said Stephen Leung, Head of Hong Kong and Taiwan. “In the past year, the way we approach work has fundamentally changed. More and more companies have stated that the future workplace should be flexible, and drive collaboration and team productivity. As a pioneer in offering flexible workspace solutions, we are committed to helping businesses of all sizes across different sectors to adapt to a new hybrid world of work. We are grateful to our members and partners’ support for the WeWork community that we have built together, and look forward to collaborating further with members and partners in Hong Kong and empowering them to innovate and succeed.”

As part of its campaign to commemorate its fifth anniversary, WeWork is calling all WeWork members to lace up their trainers this September and join its first virtual charity competition - WeRun. The three participants who accumulate the most mileage will have a chance to choose an NGO that they want to support. To demonstrate WeWork’s commitment to making a difference in the local community, WeWork will present the NGOs chosen by the three winners with free WeWork memberships to support their local operations.

Empowering Members to Thrive and Creating Value through the Vibrant WeWork Community

Using WeWork’s inspiring and engaging workspaces, WeWork members from various industries in Hong Kong, including Preface and Zalora, have thrived in a challenging market landscape.

Preface: Fostering Talent with the Tech Skills Required to Succeed in the Future

Since 2019, the fast-growing education technology (EdTech) company, Preface, has found a better way to deliver education by partnering with WeWork. With the mission of providing education on 21st-century tech skills to people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels, Preface advocates decentralizing classrooms and uses AI and Machine Learning to match learners with instructors and personalized course materials. It also believes that the future of classrooms resides in innovative spaces like WeWork, which promote creativity, flexibility and collaboration.

Before setting up its headquarters at WeWork Lee Garden One, Preface leveraged WeWork’s Hot Desk to access WeWork workspaces in London and Tokyo and test new overseas markets in order to gain insights into potential customer demographics and local trends. To date, Preface has expanded into WeWork in Central and Taikoo.

“WeWork’s holistic and flexible workspace solution provides Preface with a combination of agility, cost-efficiency and spaces that nurture innovation, enhance productivity and drive collaboration. In Hong Kong, WeWork’s extensive locations and facilities, including different types of meeting rooms, is ideal for Preface’s operating model that aims to reimagine the way education is delivered - learning can happen anytime and anywhere, at any age. This ‘hub-and-spoke’ model allows Preface teams in different locations to deliver programs to customers more effectively and better address business needs across different districts in Hong Kong,“ said Tommie Lo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Preface.

Through WeWork’s local and global network, Preface aims to inspire and engage learners in Hong Kong and beyond to learn the coding and tech skills they need to succeed in the new working normal.

ZALORA: Accelerating the Future of E-Commerce

The online shopping giant ZALORA has always prized proximity to potential partners and customers. It found the functionality and flexibility it needed at WeWork Lee Garden One in Causeway Bay, where a 12-person team is now collaboratively creating collections that enable customers to shop according to the trends that are dominating the world’s fashion runways.

“In the constantly changing world of fashion retail, ZALORA considers the flexibility that WeWork offers one of the keys to our success when it comes to responding to market dynamics. The engaging work environment and Community Team at WeWork enable the ZALORA team to operate more effectively with our flexible and hybrid working model. WeWork is also home to many of our business partners, so the flexible workspace facilitates business meetings and collaboration,” said Michael Ho Chun Yu, Marketing Manager at ZALORA.

ZALORA’s Hong Kong-based team now enjoy a well-equipped, conveniently located workspace with the environment, services and community they ask for. The retailer is exploring further possibilities with WeWork, including collaborations with other members of the WeWork community – especially those in the fashion, lifestyle and beauty sectors.

Driving Synergy through WeWork Network and Partnerships

In addition to its flexible workplace solutions, WeWork strives to create values for its members through WeWork Community events, services and partnerships.

Recently, the company launched “WeWork speaker series: The Future of Business” that provides a platform for business leaders to network and exchange industry insights. The success of the first event in July, The Future of Travel and Lifestyle, which featured member companies Air New Zealand, Headout, Hotel Lotte Co Ltd and Ten Group, was a strong testament to WeWork’s effort in helping businesses and talents to gain insights into the transformed travel and lifestyle industry landscape. Moving forward, WeWork is committed to curating more events that drive partnership and synergy among WeWork members and the broader business community.

As a visionary leader in the future of work, WeWork is dedicated to being one of the key drivers in the growth of its community and the business ecosystem, both locally and regionally. In July 2021, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) signed a strategic agreement with WeWork as part of its “Global Acceleration Hub” program, which is designed to encourage Japanese startups to expand overseas.

Embracing the Hybrid World of Work with Innovative Workspace Solutions

WeWork has established an extensive footprint in Greater China over the past five years across 12 markets, including Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area). WeWork’s network and the dynamic member community has continued to help members access business opportunities across different markets through its local and global network.

Under the new normal, members and partners remain at the forefront of WeWork’s business. In these unprecedented times, where companies look for higher flexibility, cost efficiency, and collaborative spaces that inspire creativity and connection in their real estate strategies, WeWork has launched the WeWork All Access and WeWork Day Pass memberships to accelerate the adoption of hybrid workplace strategies. These new memberships have further strengthened WeWork’s product offering, which covers the full spectrum of flexibility for companies of all sizes, including startups, small and medium enterprises and large corporations.
