Waste-to-green energy is an important topic for meeting ESG goals, achieving sustainable development and capturing green finance opportunities.
Are HKSAR and other GBA cites ready for the drive? Is the technology ready for execution in the region? What is the importance of waste to green energy initiative? What are the ESG policies driven in Hong Kong? Can waste be used as sustainable energy? What is the best energy for sustainable development? How can blockchain be used as a green finance enabler?
Industry elites including Mr. S C Mak, Dr. Patrick Lau, Dr. Jason Lam, Dr. Kyle Wong, Mr. Samson Ng, Dr. Kate Kwan & Dr. Amanda Lim in represent different event organisers (AAMA PRD, Association of Blockchain Development, HKAESCO) and supporting parties (HKTDC, UrbanGateway, ACH, Normsun, Asia CEO) are invited to be the speakers and facilitators of the seminar and will help to answer these questions.
The speakers will cover the discussions of rationale of waste to green enegy, ESG policies in Hong Kong, social impact of sustainable and renewable energy industry, how hydrogen could be a good means for renewable energy; and also blockchain as a digital enabler for green finance.

About the Speakers:
Dr. Jason LAM: Assistant Professor, School of Energy and Environment, City University of Hong Kong
With interests in climate change, environmental pollution and designing electrocatalyst to degrade persistent organic pollutants in wastewater, Dr. Lam’s research direction focuses on applying electrocatalysis to transform renewable feedstock, such as biomass, into chemicals and fuels.
Dr. Lam taught at Wesleyan University before joining City University of Hong Kong. He mentored undergraduate researchers at MSU, Yale, and high school students in the MSU High School Honours Science Program (HSHSP). Dr. Lam has also been invited to design and teach an online certificate program on the practice of green chemistry for professional students at University of Washington.
Dr. Kyle WONG: President of Association of Blockchain Development; Chief Operating Officer of Artificial Intelligence Hong Kong Limited.
Kyle, Ph.D., CFA and FRM, has more than 30 yr. of experience in the financial markets. He has taken on sales and management positions at Merrill Lynch, Citibank, HSBC and RBC Group in Hong Kong, Canada and Singapore. He has great knowledge in tokenomics. He was advisor to several crypto projects. From 2010-2017 He was the Chief Operating Officer of a hedge fund focusing on tech and value stocks in the Greater China area. He will bring his expertise in identifying macro trends, valuation and due diligence to technology projects. Kyle received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University.
Dr. Patrick LAU: Deputy Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council
Dr. Patrick Lau has been Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) since 2019. In this role, Dr Lau helps create opportunities and facilitates deals for Hong Kong businesses. His portfolio covers the promotion of Hong Kong’s service sectors, merchandise trade and innovation, as well as the HKTDC’s external relations, corporate communications and marketing and its network of 50 offices worldwide.
Dr Lau was a lawyer at international law firms Baker McKenzie and Skadden Arps before he became an investment banker at UBS AG and China Construction Bank (CCB) International as a Managing Director, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Assistant Head of Investment Bank. From 2015 to 2018, Dr Lau was the CEO of a digital infrastructure company, Director of Investments at the Malaysian Government's sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional, and Board Director and Investment Committee Member of venture and private equity fund Xeraya Capital.
Mr. Samson NG: Director of Haesco; Managing Director of Urban Gateway Energy; CEO of EnerWaste AP
Samson has spent the last 30 years, primarily in the energy sector as an entrepreneur and senior executive with a strong development, asset management, strategic planning and legal focus. Noticing the rising energy demand in emerging markets in the early years, Samson made a move to become a developer and investor in sustainability and joined the efforts to change the course before climate change is irreversible. Samson received his LLB from University of London and MA from City University of London.

Dr. Amanda Lim; A Charter Member of AAMA PRD, a Digital Economy Consultant and a Lecturer
Being a business consultant and a project research lecturer, Amanda has valuable and reputable corporate consultancy job experience. Her consultancy and research projects are related to AI, fintech, blockchain, biotech, robotics and retail 4.0. She has published more than thirty articles and research reports related to Digital Economy. She got her Bachelor Degree of Social Sciences (Economics) from the University of Hong Kong, Master Degree of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Manchester, PhD (Management) from Renmin University of China and Postdoctoral Certificate from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She got her Fintech course certificate from HKU and her Contract Law course Certificate from Harvard University. Also, she is an assistant Professor at the Industrial and Economic Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Dr Kate Kwan, CPA(US), CGMA, FRM is an experienced Investment Banking Executive Director with a talent for harnessing exceptional stakeholder engagement skills to negotiate “mission impossible” trade deals with high-profile investors in challenging markets, and a proven track record of leveraging transformational leadership to facilitate rapid organizational growth, swiftly turning around financial performance from loss to profit. Kate currently is the ESG Director at ACH Worldwide Limited leading ESG projects and initiatives for customers. In her recent role as Loan Syndications and Head of Private Debt Mobilization for a multinational financial services company, her most notable achievement has been to successfully establish a credit insurance platform in Asia, only the third geographical region in the world with its own platform after Spain and the US. In a previous role as Head of Secondary Loan Sales (Global Emerging Markets) for a major investment bank, she successfully established a secondary loan trading platform with 278 trades totaling billions of US$ over a 5-yr period.
