About this event

This event features the best and most inspiring people anywhere from Eastern Europe all the way to the Far East, regardless where they are from.  We do this to facilitate better cross-cultural understanding, more connections and opportunities for outstanding and collaborative people within our communities.

FORMAT | Virtual Unconference

An unconference is everything that a conference is not. It's casual, fun, all about connections and egalitarian. Most importantly: the guests make the event. Everyone is equal, everyone contributes and everyone can speak their mind. We limit the attendance to 200 people maximum and we spend an amazing, inspiring afternoon together in three cities across Asia virtually: Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore. We show up, mingle, get inspired and contribute to inspiring others. We will have 30 minute long presentations running parallel all afternoon in different breakout rooms! More on the format here and here.

THEME | The Eastern Edge

This time, we will explore and introduce what makes the East special and different. We are not going to look backwards, but forward. We look at ideas, achievements, companies, entrepreneurs, innovators, projects and attitudes that stand out and people should know about. We will do this through the lens of the new economy, the digital age and social progress. A speaker can talk about the family's 100 year old jam recipe still... but should explore what it means and how it stays relevant in 2020 and beyond.

PARTICIPATION | How to attend?

For now, all you need to do is signing up for one of the remaining tickets as long as they last. If you wish to join as a speaker, you may sign up now here or anytime before the event. We will start collecting the presentation topics, so start thinking what you'd like to share! You may notice that the event is free as it is organised by a community of Easterners that thought this was a worthwhile thing to do in our free time. Beyond participation and presentation, you will be asked to be as open as it gets to follow up and connect with other participants to facilitate action and build friendships across cultures and borders. That's our mission here.

SPEAKERS | Join to share!

We believe everyone has something to teach or something interesting, inspiring to share. We only invite people and through them their own friends that we believe can meaningfully contribute to the event. So, by all means, feel free to sign up to be a speaker and for 30 minutes, a virtual room is all yours! You will find a simple code of conduct on the sign up page, but other than that you are welcome to facilitate a 30 minute engagement of your liking: you can give a TedX talk and do a Q&A afterwards, you can facilitate a conversation or round-table, you can share your art portfolio or you can run a breath work class and may just share anecdotes. It is all up to you. Just be on the Eastern Edge theme, be yourself and focus on creating value and a good experience.
