Hong Kong MakerSpace for Social and Environmental ImpactWe are a cross-sectoral makerspace for innovation. We created MakerBay for makers that range from robotic companies to environmental NGOs, from mechanical engineering to traditional craftspeople, both at the same time, and everything in between. Simultaneously, we have strong focuses on individuals and organisations that are either environmental, social, and/or open-source.

MakerBay Tsuen Wan (HQ)

The “Underwater Robotics Summer Course” is a course designed for secondary and high school students to raise interest towards technology. The course covers very crucial skills required in modern day robotic technology with a focus on underwater robots. The level of the course is beginner and there is no prerequisites hence it is suitable for students from any background who is interested in robotic technologies. Duration: 5 days (15-20 hours)Cost: HKD 5,000 per participantAge: 13 to 18 YearsNo. of students per class: 6-8Location : PMQ, CentralTime : 10am to 2pmCourse Content:1. Introduction to underwater robotics2. Introduction to Introduction to 3D modelling Basics of 3D printing3. 3D modelling and 3D printing Use of CAD software Hands-on experience with 3D printers4. Tooling and assembly Basic tooling and assembly skills Use design skills learnt to modify fish design5. Arduino and Electronics Introductory Arduino programming Basic knowledge about electrical circuits6. Building a robotic fish Assemble a robotic fish using skills learned Fish racing competitionWe hope to lay the foundation for students to design and build their own robots. The course is very comprehensive and involves major branches of engineering enabling students to explore their interests further. At the end of the course there will be a mini competition and the winner will receive an award. Each student will receive a certificate of completion.
