Description

Hosted by Umani Ronchi Export Director

TUESDAY, JUNE 6th, 2017

8- 10PM

The Masterclass is aimed to let our guests experience the differneces between wines (and not only) produced two very special Italian regions: Marche with its famous caves, castles and ducal palaces and Abruzzo with its variety of natural and landscape, its Romanesque churches and its characteristic villages.

After Sangiovese, Montepulciano is Italy's second most widely dispersed indigenous grape variety.
Among the DOCs that are most noted for Montepulciano are Montepulciano d'Abruzzo in Abruzzo, Offida Rosso DOCG, Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno in Marche.
From red wine our trip will shift to white so to let you taste and compare Percorino, typcal of Abruzzo with Verdicchio, typical of Marche.
Last but not for this less special our guest will have the chance to try Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, made from the rare Lacrima grape. Lacrima (meaning "tear" in Italian), is native to the Marche region and named after its tear-like shape and from its thin skin that allows tear-like drops of juice to drip from the grape.

From Serra dei Conti in Marche to Roseto degli Abruzzi, Umani Ronchi has a total surface area under vine of 210 hectares nestling between the hills and the sea along the Adriatic coast.
The 185 km of rows are distributed across ten districts, each with its own vocation and terroir.

The Umani Ronchi story is one of ancient vines, land and people.
Seasons waxing and waning. Harvests changing. Wines coming into being. The story began more than half a century ago at Cupramontana, in the heart of Verdicchio Classico country, and has spread further.
Today Umani Ronchi is the wine estate owned by the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who since 1959 have been making superb-quality craft wines, coaxing the best out of the Verdicchio and Montepulciano that find their finest expression in Marche and Abruzzo.

Cheeeeeers!
