More About Your Teachers

Laura started her yoga journey at the age of 15 years old, with her first and most inspirational yoga teacher, her grandmother, who taught her to be humble and playful in her practice. Originally from the UK, Laura is a long-term traveller and true-adventurer, committed to life-long learning and to sharing her passion and knowledge with others.

Laura learnt the art of teaching yoga whilst training in Southern India to complete the Yoga Alliance RYT 200-Hour certification on a one-to-one basis. With a deep passion to continue her learning journey, Laura explored many teaching styles and yoga schools including Dharma Yoga, Ashtanga & Sivananda but found a deep connection to Yin Yoga and Yoga Therapeutics. After 2 years of teaching yoga full-time in Hong Kong, Laura moved to Thailand to complete her RYT 300-Hour in Therapeutic Yin-Yang Yoga with Jivani Yoga, which enabled her to develop a teaching style that combines theme-based yoga flow, yoga philosophy, self-inquiry and creative meditations. Laura founded Divine Light Yoga, a Registered Yoga School, to share Therapeutic Yoga Retreats & Certified Children's Yoga Teacher Trainings across the Globe. In 2016, Laura travelled to Mexico to complete the RYT 200-Hour certification in Ayurveda Yoga Therapy, in which she experienced profound affects on her personal and teaching practice.

Laura is extremely passionate, dedicated and knowledgable about providing a creative, open, holistic learning space. Laura, has over 15 years experience of both yoga and education. Prior to teaching yoga, Laura was an international primary school teacher and workshop facilitator; with a BA Degree in Education and over 16 years experience of working with children, teens & families in educational and therapeutic settings throughout Asia and the UK.

Emma started her yoga journey in 2005 by attending classes in her home town of Blue Hill, Maine, USA. Before yoga, her main source of exercise was running, so she was not very flexible or coordinated! Even though she struggled in the first few classes, floundering to ‘keep up’ with what the rest of the class was doing, she quickly fell in love with how the classes made her feel.

She began a regular self practice in 2008 while backpacking around New Zealand. She had a picture book full of yoga poses that she would look at while attempting to string the poses together into something cohesive. While her alignment probably wasn’t ‘perfect’, it did give her the opportunity to go at her own pace, and notice what her body was feeling.

She started leading yoga classes for friends and coworkers from 2009-2012 while teaching English in Thailand, and realized how much she loved it. This inspired her to go to Rishikesh, India, in 2012 to complete her 200 hour yoga teacher training. It was an amazing experience, and opened her eyes to a plethora of possibilities.

Shortly after getting certified, she began teaching in her home town, covering classes for her very first yoga teachers. She was touched by the circularity of teaching at the studios where she had begun as a student, and enjoyed the support and encouragement of the community.

Emma moved to Hong Kong in 2013 where she continued teaching yoga part time, in addition to teaching English, and getting her Masters in Environmental Education. It was a busy couple of years, but gave her a lot of insight into what she truly enjoys doing.

In 2015 Emma started Turning Circles Ltd., where in addition to teaching yoga, she teaches hula hoop dance to both children and adults, does hula hoop performances, makes hula hoops, and more! She loves how connected hula hoop and yoga are, as they both provide a physical form of self expression through movement.

Emma loves learning, especially about yoga, as she is then able to bring what she learns directly to her students. She completed an advanced yoga training in 2015 with renowned healer Ana Forrest, where she learned the fundamentals of yoga therapy. In 2016, Emma did a pre-natal teacher training course, and completed her 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training with Bryce Yoga. The 500 hour course was broken into 6 modules including inversions, leading workshops, anatomy, myofacial release, business, acroyoga, and philosophy. The diverse range of topics, taught by teachers who are leading in their field, gave her the tools and the inspiration to continue to dream big.

Emma organized her first hula hoop and yoga retreat in 2016 with her partner in everything yoga, Laura, which was a huge success! She is now currently training as a manual therapist with Anatomy Trains, where she is learning in-depth anatomy, and how to release facia muscle in order to help people achieve structural integration (correcting misalignments in posture), which has a huge overlap to her knowledge of how to assist people in yoga poses.

Emma aspires to inspire, through constantly striving to challenge herself. She truly believes you can accomplish anything if you are dedicated and passionate about what you are doing.
