Seminar overview:

After more than a hundred years of urban development under the British rule, Hong Kong has turned from a small and inaccessible village into a modern metropolis. During the past two centuries, Hong Kong has been reclaiming land, building infrastructure and buildings. Dividing the development of different domains, some of the developments are with its actual needs and there are also governance considerations.

In this seminar, the speaker will bring us into the evolution of Hong Kong's Central and Western District from the opening of the 19th century to the 1980s, to community development and urban planning considerations, through sharing more than 50 precious old photos of Hong Kong.
