Rubato, andante moderatoIII.Presto__________________________ Amelia Chan is currently concertmaster of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong (CCOHK).She came to this position from her tenure as concertmaster of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (US). She has also performed with the New York Philharmonic extensively. As a chamber musician, Amelia has served as violinist of the Montclaire String Quartet, and has collaborated with guitarist Sharon Isbin, accordionist Richard Galliano, violinist Lara St. John, the Ying Quartet, members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players (NYC), among others. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the West Virginia Symphony, the International Virtuosi Orchestra on tour in Central America, the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra (NYC), the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra (NYC), and the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong. She has shared the stage as co-soloist with acclaimed flutist Sir James Galway, and frequently serves as music director for the City Chamber Orchestra. She has performed at the Costa Rica Music Festival, the Guatemala Music Festival, Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival in New York and the Pacific Music Festival (Japan).Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR, New York; WQED, Pittsburgh; West Virginia Public Broadcasting; BBC Radio Scotland, Scotland; and RTHK Radio 4, Hong Kong.Amelia maintains an active performing life as soloist, chamber and orchestra musician. She often appears as guest concertmaster with local orchestras, such as the Pan Asia Symphony and the Opera HK Orchestra, among others. Teaching is an integral part of Amelia’s work which she views as an essential parallel and mirror to her performing life.Amelia holds degrees from the Mannes College of Music, and Manhattan School of Music (NY). She began her violin study in the junior school at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Her major teachers included Thomas Wang, Alice Waten, Albert Markov, Shirley Givens, Lisa Kim, Yoko Takebe, Sheryl Staples, Glenn Dicterow, and double-bassist Julius Levine.___________________Nicolette Wong returned to Hong Kong after receiving her Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge and her Master of Music from the Royal Academy of Music, having studied with Sulamita Aronovsky. Her former teachers include Hugh Petter, Katherine Lu, and Ramona Kan.Nicolette has given recitals for the Liszt Society and the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe, and has performed extensively throughout Europe and in the Greater China Region. She has recorded interviews and solo recitals for RTHK and performs regularly as soloist and as chamber musician here in HK, including a solo recital as part of the ‘Our Music Talents’ series presented by the LCSD. She has performed concertos with the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra at St John’s Smith Square and the Surrey Mozart Players in the United Kingdom, and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.An avid writer, Nicolette writes regularly for Interlude, the online music magazine. She is an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Musician Association and frequently serves on the jury for several piano competitions in Asia. Committed to making classical music more accessible to a wider public, Nicolette founded and is currently the Programme Director of ‘The Sound of Art’ Sunday Concert Series at the Hong Kong Museum of Art.______________________A native of Hong Kong, Eugene Yuen graduated from Montclair State University Cali School of Music with a degree in cello performance, under the tutelage of Nicholas Tzavaras from the Shanghai Quartet, before completing a Masters of Music Studies in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Board of Governors' Full Scholarship, studying with Julian Smiles of the Goldner Quartet. His major teachers in Hong Kong include Anna Kwan and Timothy Frank.Being an avid chamber and orchestral musician, Eugene has participated in multiple orchestral festivals and chamber competitions. He attended the Great Mountains Music Festival at the age of 14, playing in the masterclass of the late Aldo Parisot. He has held principal positions in Round Top Music Festival 2016 and Texas Music Festival 2019, and played in masterclass of Shmuel Ashkenasi while participating in Red Rock Chamber Music Institute. Eugene has also won 1st prizes in the Princess Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition in 2014, 2015 and 2022. He has worked as guest cellist in the UNSW Sydney, and is on the freelance list of Opera Australia Orchestra. Eugene was appointed principal cellist of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong in 2024.
