About the Panel

Carmen Lau, Sustainability Manager, The Bank of East Asia Limited

Carmen is currently a Sustainability Manager at The Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA”), where she is responsible for integrating sustainability into business through strategy development, stakeholder engagement, training, and more. She also supports Group-wide sustainability initiatives, including carbon emissions target-setting, green and sustainable banking, and reporting and disclosure.

Cosmo Lo, Circular Economy Senior Manager, Sustainable Office Solutions (SOS) Limited

Cosmo is specialized in sustainability policies, stakeholder engagement and circular economy. At SOS, he works with clients to divert construction waste from landfills. He is also responsible for advising carbon reduction strategies and producing data-driven reports. Previously, he worked at Drink Without Waste and Civic Exchange. Cosmo studied Master of International and Public Affairs at HKU and Media and Communications at University of Sussex.

Dr. Nadira Lamrad, Director – Sustainability & ESG Advisory, Business Enviorment Council

Dr Lamrad leads the sustainability and ESG advisory team at BEC, advising corporate clients on how to develop and communicate sustainability strategies, initiatives and performance. She monitors and analyses the latest market and regulatory developments to advise clients on potential ESG risks and opportunities. Dr Lamrad has worked with a number of large, small and medium enterprises, providing guidance and advisory services regarding their sustainability strategies, benchmarking, policy development and reporting. In her academic capacity, Dr Lamrad's expertise covers global governance, private regulation, corporate responsibility and sustainability. Dr Lamrad investigated the role of business in sustainable development and introduced innovative models for understanding how corporate responsibility is operationalised in different jurisdictions. For the past decade, Dr Lamrad has applied her wide-ranging expertise to cultivate thought leadership around corporate sustainability, develop and execute sustainability strategies, and assess and improve overall performance.

Mark Harper, Group Sustainable Development Manager, John Swire & Sons (HK) Ltd

Mark Harper is the Group Sustainable Development Manager at John Swire & Sons (HK) Ltd. At Swire Mark is responsible for the Group’s ESG disclosure and TCFD reporting as well as guiding the development of Group strategy on Climate, Waste and Biodiversity. He has over 18 years’ experience in the sustainability field. Initially starting his career in the environmental not for profit sector, before transitioning into consultancy before ending up in the corporate sector. He sits on the Board and Executive Committees of a number of NGO’s including Business Environment Council, Drink Without Waste, the Energy and Environment Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce and HeroesToo.

Calvin Kwan, Head - Sustainability & Risk Governance, LINK

As a member of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative’s (UNEPFI) Investment Commission, and co-chair of its Property Working Group, he steers the group’s efforts on contemporary global business issues including developing TCFD-compliant reporting methodologies, measuring positive impact and, most recently, COVID-response risks and opportunities.

he believes in nurturing future generations of sustainability professionals and does this as an adjunct associate professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology where he teaches post-graduate courses in environmental policy and directs a research team focused on quantifying the value of corporate sustainability.

Dr. Kwan earned a BS in Business Administration and Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, Master and Doctorate degrees in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, an EMBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern and HKUST.
