The Subtle Body

According to Tibetan tradition, we are made up of gross body, subtle body and the mind; and the emotional patterns that dictate our inner sense of balance or imbalance are functions of the subtle body.  The subtle body connects the body and mind and is the home of the emotions that influences both.  It is called ‘subtle’ because it is difficult to detect the interrelated aspects of energy that channels through our nervous system.  The Chinese concept of “chi” can be considered a part of the energy.  Due to fast-pace life, our “chi” is often disturbed which leads to energy imbalance.  When the subtle body’s natural equilibrium gets out of balance, we feel overloaded and stressed out, with negative emotions such as anxiety, anger or depression.

The subtle body is very rarely discussed in public teachings.  This 5-day 4-night retreat aims to introduce the concepts of the gross body, the subtle body and their relationships with the mind; and how they function separately and collectively. Over the years, Rinpoche has developed a unique teaching style, combining western psychology, neurosciences and the Buddhist views.  Through meditation practices Tsoknyi Rinpoche will guide us through the healing process of the unbalanced subtle body due to speediness in modern life style. Learning will be intensive in a retreat environment with a combination of teaching, experiential practices and meditation.
