Overview

The majority of what influences our health and well-being is based on the physical and social environments that we live and work in – that means both the built environment as well as people’s living conditions and how we behave. The design, construction and operation of our physical environment have a significant impact on health equity and many of our health-related behaviors.

The international WELL Building Standard® is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. The local BEAM Plus New Buildings certification v2 also revamps its IEQ aspect to the new Health and Well-being aspect to incorporate new requirements to promote the objective.

In this workshop, requirements of the two performance-based systems will be introduced and explained on how they are relevant.
