The Innovator Tribank Fintech Challenge 2019

Calling all innovators! Grasp the opportunity now to turn your innovative ideas into reality!

In this Fintech Challenge, we are looking for your breakthrough solutions to enhance banking experience for customers, and to solve real-life business problems. Once selected, you will represent Hong Kong to compete with top teams from Shanghai and Taiwan a total of to win over HK$400,000 in Grand Final. What’s more, you can pitch your innovative idea, prototype or even solution in front of a group of banking and FinTech leaders.

Team Requirements

• A team of 3-5 members
• Open to current full-time local university students or those who graduated from university in the past 3 years (including undergraduate and postgraduate)

Prizes in Grand Final

• Over HK$400,000 cash prize; Champion cash prize: HK$200,000
• Fast Pass to Cyberport Incubation Program (Up to HK$500,000 to jumpstart your business)
• Once selected to enter the Grand Final, each team will receive free access to IBM Bluemix platform up to 6 months

Challenges (topic)

Please choose one or more of the following topic(s) to work on:

1. To facilitate customer on-boarding at SCB:
(a) Enabling a highly-automated, customer-friendly integrated process for remote account opening by new customers, which are in compliance with HK laws and regulatory requirements, such as system security, know your customer / customer due diligence.
(b) Enticing newly-on-board customers to open investment account(s), e.g. securities and futures trading, other investment products, in addition to their deposit account

2. To improve transaction convenience of SCB online payment:
The Faster Payment System was launched on September 30, 2018, which operates on a round-the-clock basis and connects banks and stored-value facility operators on the same platform. This system requires continuous improvements in areas including transaction convenience and system security, so as to boost customer confidence. “Shacom Pay” is SCB’s Mobile App supporting the Faster Payment System.

3. To enhance customer experience for SCB wealth management:
SCB offers a wide range of wealth management products and services to meet customer's diverse financial planning needs, such as securities trading and insurance. For example, our online stock trading helps our customers stay current with market trends and place securities orders in a convenient and efficient manner. How can your innovative solution enhance customer experience and improve customer journey? As always, we need to stay competitive with other banks by making continuous improvements on our platforms, features or services. Unleash your creative mind to win the trust of our customers.

4. Application of Artificial Intelligence in SCB:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be seen as one of the hottest topics for financial services these days. Many banks are looking for ways to integrate AI technologies, such as machine learning, intelligent reasoning, speech recognition, text recognition, image recognition and emotional analysis, in their current banking services. Please explain clearly how your AI solution can be implemented at SCB, and what benefits it will bring to the Bank, our customers or our staff.

• Bonus points (10%): Extra points will be given to the teams who can address the Bank’s specific needs

Event schedule:

• Now until April 12, 2019: Submit your online application on Eventbrite and send your proposal to designated email in PowerPoint format, video demo or any other relevant format with file size no more than 10Mb.

• April 27, 2019 (Grand Final @ Cyberport): 3 selected teams will represent Hong Kong to enter the Grand Final to compete with winners from Shanghai and Taiwan

#Other Terms and Conditions for the Event:

2. All submissions by applicants will be used by the Organizers for the purpose of the Innovator Tribank Fintech Challenge 2019. All submissions, whether successful or not, will not be returned to the applicant.

3. In case of any disputes, the Organizers reserve the right of final decision.

4. All terms and conditions for the Event shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong.
