About this event
- Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes
Hey there! Are you a fan of improv? Do you wish to become a more confident performer? Well, I’m glad you’re here!
Join me, Sarah, one of the funny friends over at Rooftop Improv for a workshop all about stage presence and performing with confidence. Round one was so successful, I just HAD to come back for more!
In this workshop, we will explore improv through an actor lens, break down the details of certain moments in a scene, and really get into how to hop on stage and rock a scene under pressure.
Oh, you've been here before? GREAT! Come back. :) Improv is always new and different, and I know you more now as a performer, so I know how you can level up! Whether it's your first workshop or you've been before and can't get enough, I'm happy to have you.
ABOUT THE HOST
Sarah Wun is an educator, writer, filmmaker, dancer, puppeteer, improviser, and award-winning actress. She has taught all kinds of theatre, choreographed dance and stage combat for school plays, and directed a school play turned film during Covid in early 2020. She’s a legend when it comes to adaptation and thinking on the spot. Her acting stage credits include The Picture of Dorian Gray (2025), Time Flies (2024), and Robinhood the Panto (2023).
Sarah has written three screenplays: Best Smile in the World (2022), Forward (2023) - featuring a familiar face from Rooftop!, and Remnants (2024). She has also acted in several short films, and two feature films. Sarah is currently cowriting a dark comedy TV show about growing up with a facial difference.
Sarah has been a part of Rooftop Improv for four years. In that time, Rooftop has taken part in an international festival, done several workshops, and hosted loads of performances in Hong Kong.
Sarah currently works as a principal artist at Treasure Chest Theatre and is constantly using her improv skills, whether it’s as a puppet or teaching dance. She teaches another form of stage presence at her Burlesque classes where she focuses on promoting self confidence through body awareness and rhythm. When she’s not performing or teaching or writing, she can be found spinning upside down on an aerial hoop or silk. Essentially, Sarah is ALWAYS performing.
Sarah has taught improv to children and adults in school settings, and led team building activities in work environments. Sarah is eager - once again!!! - to bring her various performance skills AND feedback from previous participants (thank you) to this workshop!
Frequently asked questions
This workshop is for anyone interested in performing, preferably with some improv experience, whether from jams or rumbles, etc. I will be using my skills as a performer overall, so expect movement and acting techniques as well.
This is not a Rumble, and although we will play some improv games, the purpose of this workshop is to grow in skill and technique and go beyond the fun of the game.
This workshop is meant for serious performers who are interested in honing their craft, so be prepared to engage and perform and have apply feedback on the spot. Expect to be in several scenes with as many different participants, including me.
Bring your questions! If you have a burning question about how to approach a certain improv game, or even a general question about improv, ask me ahead of time for some tips and tricks of the trade. Bring water, comfortable clothes, and the coolest socks you have; shoes off at Stage Ground, please.
Yes! Feel free to bring a notebook and pen to take notes (this is completely optional). Whatever helps you learn!
What is the best thing about improv? What scares you most about performing? What is your goal for this workshop? And anything else you can think of.
