If you are new to the property field and looking to develop your knowledge, understanding property will offer insights into the major players, laws, functions of valuation, investment, property
management, development and financing.


Event overview

If you are new to the property field and looking to get a head start in developing your knowledge and understanding of the property business, then you need to appreciate the role you play in the overall process of property ownership and development.


After an overview of the major players in property, you will explore the law that governs the ownership and management of property and will then consider the principle functions of valuation, investment, agency, property management, development and financing. At the end of the day you
will be able to truly say you understand property.

Who should attend

This course is suitable for anyone who is working in the property industry in a supporting role, such as secretarial, finance, marketing or HR, who wants to understand the terminology and the way in which the property business works. Whether you work for a fund, a development company, a property company or a property advisor, your role can be so much more rewarding when you understand the business better.






Mr Siu has been a chartered general practice surveyor for 27 years and he is now a senior professional in the civil services. He has been serving both the RICS and HKIS as an APC assessor since 1993. Before joining the HKSAR Government. Mr. Siu was an executive in HSBC group and had worked in Marketing Department, Wayfoong Property Limited and the Group Head Property Office, HSBC for over 13 years. Mr Siu has been a part-time lecturer in various universities for nearly 20 years 

Mr Siu is the co-author of the book, Valuation of Development Land in Hong Kong (2001 edition). This book has been used as a standard textbook for surveying students in the universities and is the only valuation textbook written by a practicing surveyor who is still handling property valuations daily. Apart from property profession, Mr Siu has a personal pursuit in the telecommunication industry and is now a member of the Radio Spectrum and Technical Standards Advisory Committee to advise the Director-General of Communications, OFCA on a number of telecommunication matters.
