Event description
Develop your artistic potential by learning techniques such as hand embroidery, free machine embroidery, screen printing - and lots more!

About this Event

Is your eye caught by bright and beautiful fabrics? Your gaze held by the allure of a perfect loom? Do you long to plunge your hand into sackfuls of fine merino wool? Textile art is as wide and varied as the numerous fibres available to mankind. In this course, you will develop your own potential. You can learn techniques such as hand embroidery, free machine embroidery, screen printing, dyeing, sewing, crochet, weaving, quilting and patchwork. A thriving modern art form, textile art has a huge range of arts to choose from. You can dabble in all or perfect your skills in one area.

This course is open to ages 9 - 17+

About the F.I.S.H Course Leader: Jenny Stroud is a Middle School literacy teacher by day and avid crafter by any other time. She started working with material when she was Grade Eight and when compulsory dressmaking was a thing at schools. Since then, Jenny has developed skills in quilting, applique, crochet, embroidery, tapestry, hardanger, macrame, cardmaking, jewellery making and, of course, Renaissance costume making. Jenny strongly believes in making things that are both beautiful and useful and that no skill is ever a wasted skill.
