About this event
A clothes swop is an opportunity to clean out your wardrobe and exchange those loved pieces with treasures from someone else. This event is for everyone, no matter your shape, size or gender there will be something for you!
Incase you haven't swopped before, here are the steps:
- Clean out your closet of anything you don't wear anymore *please make sure all clothes are clean and in good condition with no tears or stains.
- Drop off your clothes at our collection point the day before on Sunday, we'll email you details after you register.
- Attend our event on Monday evening and browse the isles for something you like and take it home for free!
*Dropping off your clothes: we would like to encourage everyone to you drop off your clothes at our collection point on the Sunday before the swop, that's why the tickets for Sunday drop off are cheaper. We want you to drop them off so we can make sure they are all steamed, and set up on hangers before the event!
Sunday drop off location - Hollywood end of Peel St from 2:00 - 6:00 pm
*If you can't make Sunday, you can drop off on Monday from 3 pm at Quality Goods Club.
Doors open on Monday evening at 6:30 pm for pre-browsing and swopping will start at 7:30 pm.
Would you like to volunteer? All volunteers get a free ticket! In return, we request you lend 2 hours of your time on Sunday at the collection, or help on the night to set up, during or the clean up after. Select this on registration and someone will reach out to see which suits you best.
There will be drinks available on the night, if that tickles you, please bring cash. All leftover clothes will be donated to the Salvation Army.
Why Swop? According to the HK Environmental Protection Department, on average, more than 340 tonnes of discarded clothes and textiles are landfilled daily, which is equivalent to approximately 700,000 sweaters. It is also estimated that 4/10 Hongkongers have thrown clothes away after having only worn them once. Such habits are key factors that contribute to the city’s growing levels of waste.*Facts from @thebillieupcycling.
Take Out Plastic is passionate about reducing, reusing and refusing plastic! We will do anything we can to protect the planet and help decrease plastic and unessesary waste in Hong Kong's landfill.
All money raised from the ticket price will help go to raising awareness and reduce single-use plastic in Hong Kong. Check out www.takeoutplastic.com for more information.
