Overview

The commercial development at ‘Project MK01’, which comprises 5,194m² of non-domestic gross floor area (GFA), is the first project of the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) with the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) for design and construction coordination. BIM acts as a tool to assist URA to enhance design coordination and avoid crashes in construction, and hence improve the quality of the buildings. The employment of BIM at different building stages will generate continuous data. Whereas, the as-built models can also improve the operational efficiency in terms of facilities management for all buildings. A facility management (FM) system integration with BIM and Building Management System (BMS) is proposed to be implemented to improve the efficiency of the maintenance of the ‘Project MK01’ development. The system should be able to extend or expand for future projects. A system platform for a BIM-based FM system, which will demonstrate the processes, workflows and specifications needed to make BIM for FM, should be developed. By integrating data from BIM and the BMS, digital information will be provided for the efficient operation and maintenance of the building.

Cliff has more than 12 years’ experience for both vendor and consultant experience in the IT, GIS and BIM industry. He specialises in GIS/IT/BIM areas including system design and data analysis, and integration of products in different platforms and technologies. Moreover, he is qualified as a Professional Members of HKIBIM, Project Management Professional (PMP) and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTP). This certifies him to have professional knowledge on delivering enterprise BIM/GIS/IT solutions for sizable projects. He is currently leading the Technology team to provide GIS/IT/BIM integration services to strive for excellent project deliveries.
