About this event

To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) The Zubin Foundation is organising a conference “The Journey to Racial Equality” on Tuesday, 21 March at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in TST. This will be an in-person event.

Companies are looking at Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and race is a critical component of DEI. Race is one of the protected areas in Hong Kong under the Race Discrimination Ordinance(RDO). And yet, there is little discussion of race in workplaces and schools in Hong Kong.

This conference will bring together stakeholders to share stories, experiences, and learnings about the lives of Hong Kong's ethnic minorities.

The objectives of the conference are to:

  • Enhance awareness about the Hong Kong's ethnic minority community
  • Have honest discussions across individual as well as organisational viewpoints
  • Include a cross-section of stakeholders from diverse industries
  • Explore how to change the prevalent mindsets
  • Create a network of those interested in racial equality in Hong Kong

Highlights

  • Hear from a diverse panel about the status of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong post COVID-19.
  • Learn about the impact of the pandemic on mental health, the status of women and girls, children and education.
  • Hear about lessons learned from education, in the workplace and market place
  • How to create an anti-racism mindset in Hong Kong
