This exhibition documents a series of works that explore the collaborative potential between sonic arts and architectural installation. Each work marks a stage in Soundtecture - Density as Intensity, a project supported by HKU’s Interdisciplinary Knowledge Exchange Project Fund that brings together Department of Architecture and Department of Music at The University of Hong Kong as well as leading partners in an exploration of the relationship between sound and architecture. The Knowledge Exchange initiative aims to facilitate projects to create impact in the community by building on interdisciplinary creative outputs in the university.

Soundtecture - Density as Intensity combines musical and architectural expertise to deepen our understanding of the effects of Hong Kong’s extreme built environment on its sound ecology, create knowledge that will transform the perception and use of performing arts venues, and inspire the creation of new public artworks informed by the mutual implication of sound and architecture. Work from collaborations with Ken Ueno (Professor of Music, UC Berkeley), Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, Osage Art Foundation, and Goethe Institut Hong Kong will be featured in the exhibition.

是次展覽展出一系列探索聲音藝術與建築裝置之間合作潛力的作品，當中每件作品都標志著”築聲: 密度為強度”的一個研究階段。由跨學科知識交流基金支助，項目由香港大學建築學系和音樂學系，及藝術和音樂領域之領先夥伴合作，探索和研究音樂與建築之間的關係。知識交流計劃的宗旨，是透過支持校内之跨學科創意輸出項目，促進對社區文化的正面影響。

”築聲: 密度為強度”集合音樂和建築的專業知識，深入了解香港極端建築環境對聲音生態的影響。所得出的研究成果，將衝擊人們對表演藝術場所固有的概念與使用模式，以聲音及建築的共同關係及意義啟發公共藝術作品的創作。與加州大學柏克萊分校音樂作曲教授、上野掯、香港創樂團、奧沙藝術基金和香港歌德學院合作的作品將於是次展覽展出。
