English version below

Song Without a Name

The film inspired on a true story of child trafficking in the 80s in Lima. We will follow the story of Georgina Condori, a young mother whose newly born disappears from a fake clinic, and Pedro Campos, a young journalist who investigates the case. The film explores the late 1980s in Peru when we were facing one of the worst financial and political crisis.

Melina León's debut Song Without a Name is a film about an impoverished Peruvian mother whose newborn daughter is stolen by a baby trafficking ring. The film tracks the mother as she desperately tries to seek justice in a rigged and impossibly bureaucratic system. Unable to get any help from the police, she turns to a lonely journalist who assumes the investigation.

The first film by a Peruvian woman to be selected at Cannes, director Melina León approached her country’s communal trauma through the individual story of an indigenous mother searching for her newborn daughter. The result is her feature film debut, Canción sin Nombre (Song Without a Name), which premiered at the Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight last year, as well as winning multiple international awards.

Film will be screened with English and Cantonese subtitles.
