Event description
Smart cars are heading our way, but what really makes a vehicle intelligent?

About this Event

Of course, that intelligence doesn’t exist in a vacuum – the roll out of autonomous vehicles will need to go hand-in-hand with the development of intelligent transportation systems that support them. What does this mean for our cities?

Join Albert Lam for an overview of global trends and a close up look at where China and Hong Kong have got to in the development, and deployment, of truly smart vehicles.

Albert Lam did his PhD at the University of Hong Kong followed by a postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley. He then returned to Hong Kong as a research assistant professor at Hong Kong Baptist University and HKU, where he won a Croucher research fellowship. He is currently chief scientist and CTO of AI company Fano Labs. His research interests include optimization theory and algorithms, evolutionary computation, smart grids and smart cities.

When: Monday 4 November 2019, 7.00-8:30pm talk followed by discussion.

Where: Café 8, Hong Kong Maritime Museum, Central Ferry Pier 8. Café 8 has a well-stocked bar and a range of hot and cold snacks and light meals. Please feel free to come early for a bite before the science.
