Exciting news - the She Races female-only race is coming up in October, and we are recceing the 10KM route. We will be doing a Beginner Run around Aberdeen Country Park on HK Island - perfect for checking out the She Races route and exploring some new trails!
Route Details: We will start from Aberdeen PHAB Barbecue Area (as the start location for She Race event), then it is a 2KM climb up to the top of Wan Chai Gap.
At Wan Chai Gap there is a kiosk, toilet and water filling station - then we will head off along Black’s Link, before joining on to the HK Trail and heading along the trails (mainly flat / downhill trails through the Country Park and around the beautiful reservoirs).
Pace and Group Style:
1) This is a beginner social run, so all levels of runners are welcome.
2) The aim of a beginner run is to stick together - we will have regular walking breaks to allow people to catch up and catch their breath.
3) Regular breaks will be taken at the top of climbs and major junctions for group regroups, photos, and chats.
4) No one gets left behind — there will always be an ATG leader at the back.
Estimated Duration: 1.5 to 2.5 hours
Important Notes:
- Bring at least 1 litre of water (more if it’s hot!). There is a water refill stop at Wan Chai Gap at 2KM in. We would suggest bringing at least 1 litre for the start.
- All levels welcome! You should be comfortable being active outdoors for 2+ hours and able to jog gently on flats and downhills. Walking breaks are absolutely fine on tougher sections.
What to Bring:
1) Trail running shoes
2) At least 1 litre of water (plus a rucksack or running vest)
3) A snack to refuel — think energy gels, sweets, bananas, or bars!
4) Comfortable activewear and sun protection (hat, sunglasses)
5) Sunscreen (apply before the run)
