Russian Culture Festival and Cosmic Dance invite you to the workshop and talk: Bharatanatyam South Indian Classical Dance with Oxana McMahon Banshikova
Come and learn why a 20 year old Russian girl from Kazakhstan went to India to learn Indian Classical Dance and what made her stay there for 5 years.
During her 2 hour introductory workshop in Bharatanatyam South Indian Classical Dance Oxana Banshikova will share her 1st hand Experience of an ancient tradition of Indian Temple Dance. You will also learn different hand gestures and meanings behind them, will challenge yourself with movements involving coordination of all body parts and will experience lots of different rhythms that you can tap and clap.
Oxana Banshikova is originally from Kazakhstan and has been living in Hong Kong for the last 13 years. She is the founder and director of Cosmic Dance Company and a performer, choreographer and teacher of Bharatanatyam Indian Classical Dance.
Oxana is a scholarship recipient from Indian Council for Cultural Relations and a holder of diploma in Bharatanatyam Indian Classical Dance from Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts (Chennai, India).
The mission of the Cosmic Dance is to popularize Indian dance, bring people with different backgrounds and age groups together and to create opportunities for Indian dance lovers to learn and perform a variety of Indian dance forms.
