Seminar overview

In Hong Kong, it is very common that a construction development may have Conflicts/Disputes among various contractual parties all way through the process of works – including between the Client and the Main Contractor; the Main Contractor and the Sub-contractor, etc.

In this CPD Event: the basic Conflict/Dispute avoidance and resolution mechanism in Hong Kong’s construction industry shall be discussed – not only focusing on resolving any disputes that may arise, but also paying attention to avoiding of occurring of disputes.

Further, in this CPD, the “Dispute Avoidance and Resolution Advisor (“DARA”)” system implementing in the HKSAR major projects for decades shall be discussed, detailed and analyzed. An honourable guest speaker – a Senior Quantity Surveyor from the Housing Department – shall be presence and addressing this issue in particular.

Finally, at the last part of this CPD, it is expected that some conflicts/disputes that to be arisen from the floor for interesting discussions.


About the Speaker


Mr. Ludwig C Y Hon FRICS,

Director of C Y Hon Consultants Ltd

Ludwig is a chartered quantity surveyor, mediator, arbitrator, dispute resolution advisor, and expert witness, specializing in costs and contracts in the construction industry. He has over 26 years' experience working in Hong Kong, Macau, PRC, Singapore, Vietnam and Singapore.

He has been practicing dispute resolution since 2000, handling claims preparation/defense, mediation, arbitration, litigation, expert witnesses, preparing more than 30 expert reports and participating in several occasions in court/arbitration.

He holds a Diploma in International Arbitration, Professional Diploma in QS, Master of Arts in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.
