Redefining Hong Kong Debate - Seminar 2: Sharing economy: Is Hong Kong lagging behind Asian cities?
Hong Kong seems to be hesitant towards the idea of sharing economy when compared with neighbouring cities such as Taipei, Shenzhen, Seoul and Singapore. Regulations have fallen behind technology development and has stymie the growth of emerging businesses and innovation. How are sharing platforms changing the future of work, goods and services, and collaboration?
Panel members will give their views on:
- How can the government tweak the regulations for sharing economy companies and existing industry players to create a more level playing field?
- How to balance growing demand for technology-driven services and the need to ensure public safety and robust business environment?
- How can sharing economy prosper in Hong Kong and catch-up with its neighbouring cities
