Reading Writing Resisting: Solidarity Beyond Borders
Event Information
About this Event
Au Loong Yu, Kaitlin Chan, Daniel Elam, and Yuli Riswati will discuss what political activism looks like in the form of books, 'zines, and writing collectives. Inspired by Frantz Fanon's political writings in Algeria and Steve Biko's anti-apartheid Black consciousness reading groups in South Africa, we will talk about what it means to write, read, and resist in globally revolutionary times -- and how reading and writing make it possible to form international solidarities, from Hong Kong to Indonesia to India to Black Lives Matter.
Each panelist will speak about their own work briefly in order to make the most time for an open discussion. Other organisations will be present to share their writings and publications related to these issues.
