Xu Xi will open up another way of seeing words on the page, helping you understand why you read what you read, and in the process discover a new way of appreciating the wonderful world of literature and books…

Join us to learn the craft of “reading like a writer”, stimulate your imagination, and perhaps with some luck, achieve a “marriage of true minds” that Shakespeare so ardently spoke of.

Speaker:

Xu Xi is the author of nine books of fiction and essays and editor of four anthologies of Hong Kong writing in English. Recent titles are Access Thirteen Tales (2011) and the novel Habit of a Foreign Sky (2010), a finalist for the inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize. A transnational “third culture” writer, she long inhabited the flight path connecting New York, Hong Kong and the South Island of New Zealand, until her mother’s Alzheimer’s ended those peregrinations. She is currently Writer-in-Residence at City University of Hong Kong’s Department of English, where directs Asia’s first low-residency MFA in creative writing.

許素細是香港英文作家，曾發表九篇小說和散文集，以及編輯四集香港本土作家文選，近年著作包括 Access Thirteen Tales (2011) 以及入圍英仕曼亞洲文學獎決賽的 Habit of a Foreign Sky (2010)。許素細是一名跨國、"第三文化" 作家，曾居住於香港、紐約及新西蘭。她現時為香港城市大學英文系的駐校作家，負責指導亞洲首個非寄宿、主修創意寫作的藝術創作碩士課程。
