Description

Last year I started to think about how to integrate Public Art into our Sacred Spaces Calendar. Public Art is a funny thing. We see it everywhere, in our local parks, on the MTR, in the Airport and yet it is often seen as gauche and uninteresting. This is especially true in the very commercialized contemporary art world that's been promulgated in the city over the last decade. I mean you just can't BUY public art! Yet there are many institutions that are trying to integrate public art (often contemporary public art) into their organizational DNA. One good example of this is the "Art Mall" K11 in Tsim Sha Tsui. K11 is both Shopping Mall and Cultural Space with dozens of art pieces and installations throughout to supposedly enhance the shopping experience. Only you can be the judge of whether or not they are successful at this, however, Sacred Spaces is always up for a challenge and has reached out to the people at K11 requesting a "genre-busting" tour of the K11 "Art Kollection", and Gallery Space.

This event is FREE of charge but is a Hong Kong Sacred Spaces Society "Members-Only" event. An RSVP for this event does not guarantee a space unless you're already a Hong Kong Sacred Spaces Society Member. To ensure your place please consider becoming a Society member.
