The panel will explore the many renderings of queer spatiality in Hong Kong. From upstairs cafes, clubs, saunas, pride parade, to dating app, film festivals, and migration, we will be looking at how queer spaces – physical or digital, free or commercial, open or exclusive – have been acting as important spaces for self-expression, connection, and change. Grounding the conversation in the now, the panel seeks to shed light on how queer spaces – and by extension, queer connectivity and sociality – have been shaped and re-shaped by factors such as technology and social instabilities over the past few years, and its impact of queer lives in the city.
