Course summary
 
Module 1: Preparing for the Case Study
A well-structured and written submission demonstrates professionalism, appreciation and understanding of RICS standards and a readiness for membership. The case study provides an opportunity for professionals to demonstrate skill and competencies that is centred around an important project. With the right tools and training, this key component of the APC submission can be easily approached with considerable confidence.
 
The course focuses on discussion topics to include: how to choose a suitable case study, analysing structural requirements of the final assessment, critical elements vital to a report, and incorporating core standards of RICS qualification to achieve consistency and credibility. Upon the completion of the training, delegates will gain an appreciation of case studies and roles they play in the final assessment of the membership accreditation.
 
Module 2: Preparing for the Final Assessment
The final assessment is made up of two components, the written submission and the professional interview. Representing the culmination of experience gained from hard work and competencies achieved, this is the final step for professionals to become fully-fledged RICS members. With modifications made in the submission’s templates and content in February 2015, these changes will affect those who register for RICS membership under the new approach.
 
The course features prerequisites and updates for the final assessment ranging from: how assessments are conducted, approaches assessors use in making their decisions, and expectations for professionals. With sufficient preparation, candidates will be able to complete all areas of assessment with confidence rather than be held back in trepidation.

Trainer's Profile
 
Mr. Gary MK Yeung FRICS BSc(Hon), LLB, MBA, FHKIS, F.PFM, MCIOB, ACIArb
 
Gary is a current RICS APC Assessor, and before his retirement, he was the General Manager – Property Management for Shui On Properties Management Ltd.
 
He worked in real estate service for more than 35 years in areas of property management, maintenance, building survey and project management in various organizations.
 
He has served the Councils of Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), Surveyors Registration Board (SRB), Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM) and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies (HKAPMC) for some years and currently holding the position as Vice President of HKAPMC, Vice President of HKIFM, Honorary Treasurer of SRB (2012-2015), Honorary Treasurer of HKIS (2011-2013) and Past Chairman (2009-2011) of HKIS PFMD.
