Planetary Boundaries Fresco (In-person debut in Hong Kong)
Overview
A collaborative workshop to explore Earth’s systems, humanity’s impact on them, and discuss ideas for a sustainable future - using a systemic perspective!
How can we truly grasp the complexity of our planet’s interconnected systems – and our role in protecting them?
The Planetary Boundaries Fresco offers a unique, interactive way to explore these questions.
Inspired by the success of the Climate Fresk, this card-based collaborative workshop breaks down the science of Earth’s systems. Together, we’ll uncover how human activity affects the delicate balance that sustains life – and what actions can help restore it.
Developed in 2022 by Arthur de Lassus, an engineer and organic market gardener, the Planetary Boundaries Fresco was born from a desire to provide a system-wide perspective on our planet’s health. Today, a global community continues to evolve and share the workshop, bringing participants from all walks of life into conversations that matter.
Grounded in the pioneering research from institutions such as the Stockholm Resilience Centre and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, the session introduces the concept of the nine planetary boundaries – the thresholds that define a safe operating space for humanity.
Through guided discussions and teamwork, you will:
